OFS Portal and its members believe that the use of best practices, industry standards and consistent business processes are the major keys to achieving the full value from eBusiness.  

PIDX International

Since our inception, OFS Portal,  our members, and industry’s leaders at the forefront of eBusiness have worked closely with PIDX International, actively assisting their efforts to develop appropriate eBusiness standards for content, business processes and messages and document transport. 

 Over 4000 catalog product and service templates have been adopted by PIDX and which are mapped to the latest UNSPSC code set and which are being progressively adopted by the industry as a reliable standard on which General Ledger coding and Spend Analytics by all industry participants can be based. OFS Portal was instrumental in supporting our membership and other interested parties in the industry as they developed the templates.

CEN/CENELEC

For many years OFS Portal has directly, and through PIDX, worked with the European Union’s various bodies promoting eBusiness. Initially this was in the area of standardisation of eCatalogues at the EU’s own standards setting body CEN/CENELEC ( previously called CEN/ISSS ), and then expanded into developing many other business document standards ensuring that the Oil & Gas industry’s needs are covered in the development of these standards. All CEN/CENELEC standards are forwarded to, and developed in coordination with UNCEFACT, with goals of developing global standards.

OFS Portal’s recent focus in Europe has been around the efforts to harmonise eInvoicing and expand its adoption across the European Community, taking into account the complex VAT regulations that exist,

OFS Portal has been recognised as such a significant source of expertise in this area that the European Commission now pay for a consultant from OFS Portal to assist in the writing of a key set of the related technical documents in this effort.

Other Standards

We also work with other industry groups, such as UNSPSC and UN/CEFACT, to develop new or assist in the convergence of various existing industry standards appropriate for the Oil & Gas industry. OFS Portal also contributed significantly to the PIDX initiative to update the UNSPSC code set for Segment 71, Mining and Oil and Gas Services, as these are particularly relevant to our membership.
