HOUSTON (Sept 20, 2011)
Bill Le Sage, CEO of OFS Portal, chaired the Marcus Evans 5th Annual Global Procurement and Supply Chain Management for the Oil and Gas Industry for the fourth year. There were over 80 people present. Several OFS Portal Member companies were represented, with the remainder of the attendees being key global and regional buyers. Bill stated, “The event provided a great opportunity to network with global trading partners and share best practices.”
This 5th annual forum, held in Barcelona, focused on innovating procurement strategies, as well as technological developments, as the oil and gas industry is facing major challenges surrounding achievement of bottom line value from procurement and supply chain activities. As the market is recovering financially, the additional cost pressures are forcing players to better control their costs and optimize their strategic operations. The customer/supplier relationship was illustrated as being more important than ever.
Leading companies presented case studies on collaborative procurement and assuring best practices on customer/supplier relationship management. Implementing a global strategy to reduce costs and developing sustainability were also key issues discussed at this forum. Bill arranged a no-host dinner, as he had in previous years, to increase the networking opportunities with trading partners as well as the visibility of OFS Portal.
Plans have been confirmed for OFS Portal to chair next year’s event.
