OFS Portal and its members believe that the use of industry standards and consistent business processes are the major keys to achieving the benefits of eCommerce.  

Since our inception, OFS Portal and our members have worked closely with the PIDX sub-committee of American Petroleum Institute (API), actively assisting their efforts to develop appropriate eCommerce standards for content, business processes and messages and document transport. 

Over 1700 catalog product templates have been adopted and we have helped define the business messages, business processes and enveloping standards used by the industry today.

Our work with PIDX (US) and DTI (UK) to develop standardized nomenclature for service components to be used in eCommerce initiatives gained us global acceptance which helped facilitate the formation of PIDX Europe, giving PIDX standards more global visibility and acceptance. 

We also work with other industry groups such as CIDX, UNSPSC, CEN/ISSS, UN/CEFACT and FPAL to develop or converge standards.
